Participating in the writing of the Integrated Health Enterprise (IHE) White Paper

Purpose

The Data Standards Committee coordinates data standards activities for the Consortium. The committee was created as part of a restructuring of the ongoing standards activities of the Consortium, which included the work of the Healthcare Data Reporting Guide, the External Cause of Injury, and the Payer Type committees.

Health Care Service: Data Reporting Guide (HCSDRG) Committee Activity Highlights

Description
ANSI X12 approved a new 5010 (October 2003) version of the Health Care Service: Data Reporting Guide. This replaces the current 4050 (October 2001) version of the HCSDRG. During this time period work is beginning to develop the 5050 (October 2007) version of the guide. Consortium membership is being queried to identify necessary enhancements to the 5050 version of the HCSDRG.

Payer Typology Committee Activity Highlights


Description
The Payer Typology has been developed and a formal mechanism for maintaining the code list has been initiated. The Payer Type Work Group also maintains a user guide, which includes definitions for each of the payer type code categories. During this year, the action item for this work group is to get the Payer Typology supported in the appropriate standards organizations, namely X12 and HL7.
