Purpose
The Communication and Outreach Committee is
responsible for developing and executing strategies for
marketing and disseminating the activities and products of the
Consortium. Through various means, including print and
electronic media (e.g., the Web), educational and conference
opportunities, and focused outreach, the Committee seeks to
promote the Consortium's stature as a premier educational
resource to its members and prospective members, and the public
health and healthcare community in general.
Description of
Activities
The Communication and Outreach Committee
is developing strategies to market the Consortium and its
products. Potential venues include educational webcasts as
well as the production of a Consortium newsletter to
disseminate information on Consortium activities and other
developments in the arena of public health data standards.
To promote the PHDSC, the Committee also plans to explore
and implement strategies for increasing awareness about the
Consortium, including media coverage.
A major information dissemination tool of
the Consortium is the organization’s website and the Web-Based
Resource Center (WRC). The WRC provides resources and guidance
for local, State, and national organizations to participate in
standards development activities, encourage adoption and
improvement of existing standards, and to facilitate standards
implementation. Activities from many different committees and
projects of the Consortium are represented in the WRC.
